CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF A BETTER CHANCE HAVING EDUCATIONAL IMPACT FOR STUDENTS OF COLOR IN RADNOR
WAYNE, PA, April DATE, 2022 — Radnor A Better Chance (Radnor ABC) program will celebrate 50 years of creating high-quality educational and leadership opportunities for high school students of color in Radnor during a special 50th Anniversary Soirée at St. David’s Golf Club on Friday, April 29, 2022.
Nearly 200 Radnor ABC alumni and residents are expected for this commemorative event, which also serves as the organization’s largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds will help Radnor ABC support ten scholars on their four-year journey through Radnor High School. Radnor ABC relies solely on donations to cover the four-year expenses for each scholar, which includes room and board, extracurricular activity costs, and small stipends for the resident directors and live-in tutors.
“I credit the Radnor A Better Chance program with, quite literally, saving my life,” said Darren Troche, a Radnor ABC alumni attended Radnor High School from 2000-2004.
Radnor ABC Board President Candyce Wilson added, “What makes the Radnor ABC program so unique is that we’re able to facilitate a high-quality public education experience that may not otherwise be possible for these students in their home communities, setting them up for greater future personal and professional success.”
Radnor ABC, part of the national A Better Chance Organization, makes a deep and long-lasting impact on the lives of its scholars, giving them a chance to attend Radnor High School and to be nurtured by the Radnor community, building networks, and getting an education that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. The opportunity to be a Radnor ABC scholar not only gives each participant a chance for a more promising future, but it positively impacts other members of their families and community back home, and the Radnor community. That is what’s referred to as the ripple effect of Radnor ABC.
“We hope members of the community will join on us Friday, April 29 to celebrate the inspiring stories of our alumni and be part of supporting the next generation of leaders to come through this special program,” said WIlson.
